I fell asleep several times during the film and had to rewind lots, but had previously kept very quiet about this, for fear of being pronounced thick or lacking in culture, but now it can be said...
Donnie Darko is rubbish.
And I refuse to be persuaded differently... "When people run in circles, it's a very, very mad world..."
Now all I need is to find someone else who agrees with me about...

Oh dear bad company. Tina thought Donnie Darko was crap too. When have you two ever agreed about a film??
ReplyDeleteSO, tell me your views on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I was intrigued by the film and glad I saw it . . . which is a miracle for me bearing in mind it stars Jim Carey - who I cant stand (I have boycotted ALL his other films - yes, that's right, not ever seen ONE other film of his - excpet maybe Batman) Tell me more!
ReplyDeleteDonnie Darko. A very long film detailing the anxst of being a teenager in a family and world that does not understand you. And it was pants. How this has become a cult film I will never. It just does not make sense. If you want to watch a film about someone seeing 6ft bunnies, get yourself a copy of Harvey staring James Stewart. Also if you really want to appreciate the song Mad World, stick on a copy of the original by Tears For Fears. The Gary Jules version is just depressingly slow and bad.
ReplyDeleteI have not watched Eternal Sunshine yet, although i have a personal interest in films that deal with memory loss. Watch Memento, a very good film.
Just call me Mark Camode!
Roger
Already seen Memento, thought it was very good - there's a little trick on the DVD which means you can actually watch it in the right order.
ReplyDeleteI will have to ask Paul again what was so good about Donnie Darko as the concensus of opinion so far is that it wasn't...
Have you seen King Kong yet, Rog??
